Do not give upon some of these turning up. Over several years of researching I have found several ‘lost’ items. A cardboard box in a library cabinet has more than once held something no one knew was there. Four years ago I found an envelope containing 1921 aerial photographs of my town that were completely unknown by the government agency that had them.
Perhaps one of the actors has a copy in their position. If you are especially interested in a TV show, send a small letter to the cast members and see if they know of one. That approach has paid off for me. Although in my case the prize was an 1851 letter complaining of the quality of paper supplied by a local mill.

Indeed....there's a largely lost UK show from the 1970s for which further episodes were found because a talent manager had kept tape copies.
